Bedroom Dreaming – Colors

July 5, 2012

I am so excited to move in with my best friend, but I also know that there will be be some adjustments. Like the bedroom. Right now my room is pretty girly, complete with pink walls, fluffy bedding and a chandelier. I love it and I’d love to keep the same aesthetic, however, my boyfriend is not a pink walls kind of guy. I want the space to reflect us not just him or me, and there are so many gorgeous colors out there that I could love just as much. I’ve heard that blues are great in the bedroom because they give off a calm serene feeling. Blue is also naturally masculine but can be softened and very feminine too. Below are a few blues that I think might be just right.

What I would LOVE…

What I’m actually considering..

i totally had hot pink walls in high school. luckily, robbie loves extremely effeminate things — he loves flowery sheets & always likes me to wear floral prints. i'm pretty grateful for that!

but i think blue can be so, so romantic. & actually, in the victorian era, blue was the designated baby girl color & pink was the designated baby boy color because reds & pinks are stronger, more fiery hues & baby blue is gentle & somewhat subdued a hue. i love a soft, dreamy, hazy blue, but i think a bold navy blue is pretty great too — especially paired with hot pink & gold. i'd love to have a bathroom like that someday.
