Confession: Tomorrow it will be three weeks since I gave up dairy and meat.
I didn’t know if I should post about it, because I’m afraid that I might fail. But this blog is about life, including the successes and failures (and you may have already guessed since I’ve been pinning vegan food like crazy).
I’ve known many vegans in my life and admired them for their healthy habits, resourcefullness and sheer will power. I love cheese, I love milk, I love yogurt – I never thought I would be able to go vegan. We’ve made it three weeks just living day by day.
It’s both harder and easier than I thought it would be. There are so many alternatives to dairy (vegan cream cheese, sour cream, butter and yogurt) – and a lot of recipes can be easily veganized. But every now and again we slip up accidentally – forget to check a label (dairy is in everything) and going to parties sucks. Oh and pinterest is hard too – soo many yummy things that I’ll never be able to eat. On the up side we’ve had so much fun cooking and being more adventurous with food. Plus, we’re now aware of what is in our food and it feels good that we’re making a choice to help lessen suffering.
I can’t say that it will stick for a lifetime – but for right now it feels right and it feels doable. I look forward to sharing the adventure with you!
My husband and I just went vegan about a month ago and I know what you mean! I love yogurt more than anything else that we've given up, but since I've been eating more of other things, those cravings are starting to go away. I've found a few websites that have been very helpful and if you need any tips I'd be happy to help! Hang in there π xo
LIFE AS A WIFE
Love this! I used to be vegan for about a year and I loved it, I felt better and healthier. Now that I'm dating Michael, it's hard to be a solo vegan living with a carnivore since we cook so much together and sometimes he gives it a try but more often than not, he's not a fan. He is supportive though, of me being a vegan, and maybe I just need a stronger willpower so I can keep at it. Either way, three weeks is a great amount of time! It can be hard but it will get easier, especially when you read labels and start remembering the foods that have animal byproducts hidden in them. Good job!

I'm so impressed! I could never give up dairy, I love cheese too much and my dad's a milkman so he'd never forgive me π
