My Girl Cave: Walk in Closet

Welcome to the girl cave! The one place where you don’t have to apologize for your pink, your tulle, your bows. This room has been a dream-come-true for me. Our bedroom is on the small end–we can fit a queen size bed in it and nightstands.. and that’s all, folks. This closet makes up for that. When we purchased our house this had two doorwarys, one connected to the master bedroom and one to the front entryway. It also had two small closets in it, which didn’t make much sense to me (see the original layout here). We closed off the doorway to the entryway and made this 100% closet. Billy has a small, reach-in closet in the bedroom that he’s happy with. I’ve offered to share, but I think he likes to keep a few things in our marriage separate.

I chose to go with velvet and wood hangers. I love the color pop of the pink and that they’re slim in profile so you can maximize space. However, I prefer my blazers and sweaters to be on something more substantial. The end product is velvet for dresses and wood for tops. It may not be 100% cohesive, but it’s practical. (Can you spy my oops hangers below? Billy’s grey version made its way into my space!)

One of my favorite things is the jewelry organizer. This was a DIY version inspired by this Anthropologie jewlery organizer. It was simple to put together and is a clean and simple way to organize jewelry.

I also love the rug. I wanted to go with something more natural to tone down the frills. This is a jute rug from Target and it has the prettiest threading of silver metallic. Natural with a hint of glam–I couldn’t ask for more!

Having a closet with a window is a blessing and a curse. The natural light is wonderful, but  the privacy is not. You can’t see the detail in these photos, but we put up a contact paper with a lace design that lets the natural light in and the peepers out.
