Target is winning at Christmas

November 12, 2016

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say Target is a little happy place for me sometimes. And when their Christmas decor goes on sale, a certain thrill goes through me, because they just WIN at Christmas. So many fresh pieces, at such good prices. Every year I aim to get classic items that I can use and love year after year, and every year Target comes out with amazing new things that I feel like I have to have! So here are my Target holiday picks. And no, this is not sponsored by Target, I’m just a big Target fan like the rest of you.

Modern Dorothy Halloween Costume

October 14, 2016

There are only two weeks until Halloween – do you have your costume yet? I’ve always had a love of the Wizard of Oz. I mean what little girl didn’t want those shiny red shoes! To top it off, I spotted this darling, vintage-style, blue gingham dress for a steal on Amazon and thought it was just perfect for a modern Dorthy costume. Hey, Zoey could even be Toto! You could even update her footware to something a little more current, say, red hunter boots for tromping around in the rain, or just a vibrant heel that would look great at a Christmas party later this year. Oh, and if you want to take it really modern, and just give an ode to Dorothy at work on Monday, and go with THIS dress!)

Happy Halloween!

gift guide: for the hostess

November 24, 2015

Tis the season for parties. As a girl who just can’t help but put on parties, I can say they are a ton of fun but a lot of work! Cleaning, cooking, decorating then plus pre-party primping? It’s a lot! While hostess gifts should never be expected, I think a small gift is the sweetest gesture and it will ensure you’re invited back year after year. Here are some things I would be thrilled to receive (that tea towel says it all and is so cheap – I’d buy 10!)

Tea Towel | Dinner Diaries | Bottle Stopper | Cheese Knives | Blank Journals
Pedestal Dessert Tower | Plate Set

spooky, black and white halloween party inspiration

October 21, 2015

Can you believe Halloween is almost here? You’ve seen my personal preference for black and white Halloween decorations – here’s some of the pictures that inspired my decor and food for the party I threw last year.  Unfortnatly I’m terrible at multi-tasking the blogger/photographer/and party planner that I am, so hope these help get your imagination going. Halloween parties are some of the most fun!

ADVENT CALENDARS

November 27, 2014

December is finally here, which means it’s time to bring out the bells, decorate the mantle and trim the tree and start opening up tiny treats and surprises on your advent calendar. Our advent calendar is cute garland with small envelopes that I love to put up – each day opening up a note that inspires an activity. Here are a few wonderful ideas to DIY your own – and if you’re not feeling crafty, a few store-ready ones are below too!

gift guide: for him

November 24, 2014

It’s that time of year again. Where I can shop to my heart’s content! One of the things I start thinking about very early is gifts I can get for the guys in my life: my husband, dad, brothers and brother-in-laws; the list is a long one. Men aren’t always the easiest to shop for, and I pride myself on being a good gift giver, always trying to think of something both practical and thoughtful. Here are a few of the ideas I have swimming around in my head.

Soundfreaq has amazing sound and equally amazing aesthetic.

My husband has more opinions about soap than I do, so I know he would love Kiehl’s Starter Kit for men.  He could try out a few products before picking a favorite, or two.

Gentleman’s Playing card that are good for a hand of poker and tips on etiquette for the 21st-century gentleman. (Not a gentlemen? Try Cards Against Humanity)

These cedar-filled shoe inserts from naturally deodorize and dry  his hardworking boots.

This handkerchief set is inspired by the night sky and is plain beautiful. The perfect gift for the Moon of your life.

I certainly wouldn’t mind having this vintage styled Bluetooth and AM/FM radio sitting on a bookshelf, and I don’t think he would either.

The softest Reindeer socks are a great introduction to both cashmere and style.

Because everyman with an inner chef in him needs a rugged, cast iron skillet.

Cashmere Cable-knit sweater: so he looks good and feels good too.

Aviator RayBan Sunglasses: Classic, stylish, practical = everyman’s dream

This wallet is a classic style made of genuine leather and it comes with free monograming.

pssst. I’ll be doing a variety of gift guides Christmas list making this week so stay tuned for lots of ideas. There are lots of gift ideas on my 2014 holiday gift guide!
